The international kangaroo court strikes again
Here is a thought experiment to help you understand the absurdity of the International Criminal Court's decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli leaders for war crimes.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has made a laughing stock of itself. Its decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has created an incentive structure that makes real war crimes more likely to happen, not less.
Imagine that after Hamas’ October 7 attack, Israel sent its air force to level the Gaza Strip. Seeing as this is a thought experiment, let us up the stakes and imagine Israel dropped a tactical nuclear weapon.
Vast numbers of innocent civilians would be killed, but Israel would have destroyed Hamas without losing a single Israeli soldier.
There would be global outrage, and the ICC would likely issue arrest warrants for Israeli leaders for war crimes.
This is the exact same legal outcome as we have now, despite Israel fighting the most moral war in history and sacrificing hundreds of its troops in order to prevent Palestinian civilian casualties.
This is perverse. The ICC ruling, in effect, incentivizes war crimes.
