I always pictured Israel to be a nation under siege. I followed Israel in the news since the early 1970s, I finally got to visit about seven years ago, and what I saw astounded me. You could almost smell the prosperity. The modern infrastructure was better than anything I've seen here in the USA. There were business people, and visitors from every corner of the globe, all raving about what a great place Israel was. The word cool doesn't begin to describe Tel-Aviv. Israel was also the happiest place I've ever been to. The Arabs seem to be the happiest, seriously. The food scene is better than Paris. After the first week of my first visit, I decided that the media has been feeding us mostly lies about Israel.

Thanks for this piece. The media are looking for attention-grabbing, sensational headlines. It is not in their interest to report what the majority of citizens are doing peacefully in their day-to-day lives. We see what they want us to see. And you are right - many journalists have turned into social activists, inserting their biases along the way rather than just reporting the facts.
