“I support the Palestinians” has never had anything to do with the Palestinians. It is a code phrase, or term of art, meaning “I want the Jews to suffer and die.”

Absolute clarity .. Nachum, your clear and precise points give substantial proof that governments threatening to recognise a palestinian state are run by incompetent, fool hardy idiots.

👏👏👏 It’s so refreshing to hear common sense like this about the situation on the ground in the Middle East, Nacham! Spain, Ireland and Norway recognizing a Palestinian state doesn’t mean anything. I could say I recognize Ohio as an independent country from the USA or London as an independent country from the rest of Britain but that doesn’t make it a reality.

The Spanish, Irish and Norwegians can’t simply wish a Palestinian state into existence. It’s a performative move so they can virtue signal to voters, that’s about it. These three countries are hardly pure as the driven snow when it comes to their history with Jews let’s no forget. So their one to lecture Israel about morality. Israel has saved millions of Palestinian lives in Gaza and its currently feeding its people with the help of the U.S.

The moral grandstanding of the Spaniards, Irish and Norwegians does nothing to help the hungry, displaced, sick, starving, and injured in Gaza. The aid distribution center built by America and Israel does just that. The countries that gave the world the Spanish Inquisition, the IRA and Vidkun Quisling don’t get to lecture the most humane military in the world about their tactics on the battlefield and about what is and isn’t right to do.

All the questions you asked and the alternate headline you provided at the beginning are spot-on, Nacham! Any journalist or outlet worth their salt would ask these questions. Israel has a right to keep Palestinians from coming through their borders if it creates a security risk. A country has every right to control who goes in and out of their borders. Palestinians are not citizens of Israel and unless they are very old, never lived there. So no, they don’t have a right to return. If Palestine is a state then that means it’s people are citizens NOT refugees anymore and shouldn’t be treated as such.

If it is necessary, Israel can expand the Iron Wall into Judea and Samaria again, in the name of national security and protecting the settlers living there. If Israel needs to protect its citizens, faces clear and present danger and Hamas and other Islamist groups might enter the country again as they did on October 7th, then shouldn’t they have the right to close their border with Gaza?

On another note, Antonio Guterres is a fine one to be condemning Israel considering he was buddies with Yasser Arafat and Fidel Castro and didn’t address the hostages and October 7th until he was forced to. Instead of giving Israel ethnics lesson he would do well to take one himself. Him and the UN’s faux moral outrage about Israel’s conduct in the war would be laughable if it weren’t so galling. Israel is fighting the war according to international law.

If Israel should assert its sovereignty over Gaza again, here’s what I’d like to see happen. Gaza should be opened up to Jewish settlers again. Any of those who were forced out in 2005, should have the right to return if they wish. Palestinians living in Gaza should be given Israeli citizenship, the right to vote and representation in the Knesset. A Governor-General should be appointed to run Gaza who’d report directly to the Prime Minister. The strip will be demilitarized and deradicalized. De-Hamasification will take place swiftly and without delay. All war criminals will be tried in Jerusalem where Eichmann was. The IDF will train Gaza’s police and army. Hamas and all other Islamist political parties will be banned.
